Texas Modular
Homes |
Manufactured
homes in Texas, sometimes referred to as mobile homes,
are built to the HUD Code, a national code for manufactured
housing. The HUD Code, unlike conventional state building
codes used by modular home manufacturers and site builders,
requires manufactured homes to be built on non-removable steel
chassis. Many neighborhoods exclude manufactured homes but
accept modular homes because they are built to the same code
as site-built homes. Modular homes
in Texas are no exception and must go through many inspections
before leaving the factory for the final destination. These
homes are shipped 90 to 95 percent complete. The contractor
is then responsible for getting a set crew to secure the home
to it's foundation and putting the finishing touches on the
home.
