New Jersey Modular Homes

Green and Economical-Modular Homes Ready to Step Into the Limelight. With an economy stuck in first gear (if not reverse) and mounting concerns about energy use, carbon footprints and the responsible use of natural resources, modular homes are finally getting a second look from young and old home buyers alike.

Just to clarify, we're not talking about the traditional 'mobile-home' we've all seen in trailer parks everywhere. Where mobile homes are intended to (at least in theory) be moved from location to location in New Jersey and placed on rented lots, a modular home is a permanent, single family house that's usually placed on land purchased just as any homestead would be. A modular home may share some of the construction techniques of mobile homes, but in practical use it is far more akin to a traditional house.

Where New Jersey modular homes differ from traditional homes is in the techniques used to construct the building, and the amount of preparation that must be done to the site prior to the placing of the home. Where traditional homes are constructed on-site from delivered materials, and have to be placed on a foundation or footing specifically built to support them, modular homes are delivered to the site in large, preconstructed segments which are mass-produced in a central location.

Instead of carpenters, electricians and plumbers building the home 'from scratch' over a period of weeks, skilled technicians assemble the components in a matter of one or two days. Modular homes are, in essence, a 'kit' that was designed and largely pre-built before arrival.

The advantages of New Jersey modular homes are numerous; increased efficiency, due to centralized manufacturing, can result in dramatically lower prices for otherwise comparable homes. Foundations and footings can be standardized and simplified as well, further reducing costs.

Additionally, factory construction allows greater use of energy saving and 'green' components which would be difficult or impossible to install in the field. Insulation and window mounting can be tightly controlled and gap-free, compared to the vagaries of on-site building. And control over assembly of major components ensures consistent compliance with design and installation specifications that can increase energy efficiency even further.

For all these reasons, New Jersey modular homes are getting a second look from critical home buyers looking to make the most of their recession hit dollars, as well as those trying to lead a more energy efficient and responsible lifestyle.
